Learn about Health Freedom

This page will list resources to help readers learn about Health Freedom. We are especially hopeful that these resources will be useful to PA students. Like most United States Universities, PA programs are often staffed by faculty who believe in the power of the state to solve human suffering. We hope to students will use material on this site to challenge these instructors and let their fellow students know that freedom is a much better political options than central control. If you have found these pages useful, please write us with any further suggestions.

Solutions toward Health Freedom

We respect that there may be many possible solutions to move the USA toward more health freedom. We are not arrogant enough to imagine that some of these solutions may also be mutually self-exclusive. Yet we believe that the most promising way to come to useful solutions is through the laboratory of ideas. Below are some thoughts on possible solutions.

  • FDA: The FDA is too powerful. Market-based, private organizations could certify existing drugs. All patients should have the freedom to use drugs, FDA approved or not.
  • Medical Savings Accounts: Personal savings accounts dedicated for medical expenditures with low-cost, high-deductible health insurance policy for catastrophic expenses should be part of the solution.
  • Deregulating Health Care: The Government should find ways to limit regulating licenses, professionals, facilities, insurances, drugs, devices, and the medical malpractice system.
  • Medicaid: Federal spending on Medicaid should be frozen and the federal government should devolve control over Medicaid to the states.
  • Medicare: Medicare cannot be saved by raising taxes or cutting benefits. Instead, Medicare requires market-based structural reforms. Younger workers should be permitted to deposit all of their Medicare payroll taxes into Medical Savings Accounts. More on Medicare .
